Twins drop series finale to Guardians

(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Cleveland Guardians forced a split in their four-game series against the Twins with a 2-1 win in Minnesota.

The game was scoreless entering the seventh, when Josh Naylor and Andres Gimenez each drove in a run to give Cleveland the lead. Willi Castro brought the Twins within one with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth, but Emmanuel Clase shut the door in the ninth to pick up his 19th save.

James Karinchak earned his second win in relief. Cleveland has won three of five.

Joe Ryan was tagged with his third loss after allowing two runs on two hits in 6 2/3 innings. Minnesota has lost its last two games.

The Twins have an off day on Monday before visiting the Tampa Bay Rays for a series beginning on Tuesday night.
