Gophers steal win in Iowa

(Iowa City, IA) — The Minnesota Gophers earned their first win at Kinnick Stadium since 1999 with a 12-10 victory over Iowa on Saturday.

The Gophers defense shut down the Hawkeyes in the second half, and Dragan Kesich knocked in a 31-yard field goal to give Minnesota a 12-10 lead with under nine minutes left in regulation. Iowa returned a punt for a touchdown with 93 seconds to play, but the officials ruled that the punt returner signaled for a fair catch after review. Justin Walley sealed the game with an interception three plays later. Minnesota improved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers host Michigan State this Saturday.
