(Moorhead,MN)-- I would like to say farewell to one of the best coaches and men I've ever met in my life, Jason Thielges.

When I walked onto the grounds of Fargo Davies High School in the summer of 2019 I was a part of a Freshman class of football players who were wide-eyed and had mixed emotions about playing football at the high school level. That was when we first met our high school football coach, Coach Thielges. I had gone to games as a kid and I dreamed of playing for Coach and wearing the red and gold of Davies. That was when he took us into the gymnasium and told us to look at the football banner on the wall and he pointed at the year 2014 on the banner and told us that we could be the next class of Eagles to deliver a state championship to Davies. He always believed that we could be a great class and he was right as my class of '23 won 24 games, two EDC championships, and made a run to the state semis in 2022.

No matter if you were on the field with him or business wing of the high school taking his business and personal law class or his business software class, he cared about you and was never afraid to put his arm around you and ask how you were doing. He meant so much to everyone who played, coached, and worked with him.

The world lost a great man and I wish we all had more time with one of the best role models and coaches I have ever met in my life.

Fargo Davies plays their State AAA quarterfinal game at Bismarck on Friday, and Moorhead plays their Section 8AAAAA semi-final game on Saturday at Brainerd. Both Fargo Davies and Moorhead looking to get one more win for their coach who is gone way too soon.

My condolences to his wife Cori and their three kids. Rest In Peace, Jason Thielges.
