A three run and a four run inning cost Minnesota in a 7-2 series opening loss to the Rays in Tampa Bay on Monday night.
Chris Paddack gave up two earned runs over 5 ⅓ innings while eventually being tagged with the loss. Brock Stewart gave up one run over ⅔ of an inning with Justin Topa 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. Kody Funderburk gave up four runs over only one inning in relief.
Carlos Correa hit a two-run homer, his fourth of the season.

Minnesota and Tampa Bay will continue their series on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Joe Ryan will be on the mound for the Twins while Taj Bradley counters for the Rays.
