Devils Lake’s Nelson signed undrafted FA deal with Nets

After the 2025 NBA Draft concluded on Thursday, June 26 a local product got his opportunity. Devils Lake, ND native, Grant Nelson, signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

The contract will give him a chance to compete for a two-way contract this upcoming season.

The 2020 North Dakota Mr. Basketball winner, spend three seasons collegiately playing for his home state North Dakota State Bison men’s basketball team. Over those three seasons, he started in 56 of 86 games while averaging 12.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game while playing for the green and gold.

Following his junior season, Nelson transferred to Alabama where he spent the past two seasons. Over those two seasons Nelson helped Bama to the program’s first ever Final Four in 2024 along with an Elite 8 appearance this past spring. During the 2024-25 season with the Crimson Tide, he averaged 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game on 53.2 percent from the field.

The 2025 NBA Summer League will take place in Las Vegas from July 10-20.
