Dodgers walk-off Blue Jays in World Series Game 3; Tied for longest WS game all-time

On Monday, October 27  Game Three of the 2025 World Series at Dodger Stadium between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays became an instant classic. The game began at 7:08 p.m. on Monday night and the final pitch was thrown a few minutes before 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

LA scored a run in the second and third innings on solo home runs from Teoscar Hernandez and Shohei Ohtani to take a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth inning. In the fourth inning the Blue Jays struck for four runs capped off by a Alejandro Kirk three-run homer… Toronto leads 4-2. In the fifth inning LA struck back with RBI base hits from Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, tying the ballgame at five. In the top of the seventh inning Bo Bichette gave Toronto the 5-4 lead on an RBI single. In the bottom of the seven inning Ohtani hit his second solo home run of the night re-tying the game, this time at 5-5.

Then…. The scoring stopped… For the next 10 innings!

The game stayed deadlocked at five until the bottom of the 18th inning when Freeman came back up to the plate. He sent the home crowd home happy with a walk-off solo home run, giving the Dodgers a 6-5 win and a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-seven World Series.

This was Freeman’s seventh home run in his last 10 World Series games. Ohtani reach base in all nine at-bats with two doubles, two home runs, and five walks.

Monday’s Game Three was tied for the longest World Series game all-time, tying 2018’s Game Three between the Dodgers and Boston Red Sox that also went 18 innings. The 2018 game lasted seven hours and 20 minutes while Monday evenings game took six hours and 39 minutes.

Game Four will be on Tuesday night in LA with first pitch schedule for 7:08 p.m. and game coverage available on FOX. Shohei Ohtani is currently scheduled to be on the mound for the Dodgers with Shane Bieber countering for the Blue Jays.
