Fighting Hawks defeat Omaha in NCHC quarterfinal game one

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – For the 17th straight postseason home game, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks won a postseason game.

Friday night, it was game one of the Fighting Hawks’ NCHC quarterfinal series against the Omaha Mavericks 5-3 at Ralph Engelstad Arena – despite being without two regulars in the lineup out due to illness.

Five different goal scorers – Cade Littler, Jack Kernan, Dalton Andrew, Ollie Josephson and Mac Swanson – scored for the Fighting Hawks. Josephson and Kernan had multipoint games.

“Ollie is just such a strong two-way player,” head coach Dane Jackson said. “When he scores for us, that’s a huge bonus.”

Jan Špunar finished with 17 saves.

North Dakota will go for the series sweep tonight at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Game time is scheduled for 6:07 p.m.
