On Wednesday, May 28 the Fargo Force announced the return of Alumni Jimmy Mullin as the team’s new Associate Head Coach.
He returns to Fargo with multiple years of coaching that includes two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team and two seasons at Merrimack College. He was an Assistant Coach at both stops.
Mullin played 52 games for the Force during the 2010-11 season where he led the team in scoring with 60 points on 23 goals and 37 assists. After his time playing in Fargo, he played college hockey at Miami University (Ohio) and Minnesota State Mankato. After his collegiate career, Mullin played three seasons of professional hockey with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL from 2016-19. Additionally, he was a fourth round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lighting in 2010.
Force head coach and general manager Brett Skinner gave his thoughts on the addition of Mullin saying, “We are thrilled to have Jimmy on board as an Associate Head Coach, and back in the Force Family. He brings a wealth of hockey experience including most recently being in the NCAA with Merrimack and working with a great staff as well as their talented athletes. As well he will bring his experience of working with the NTDP which allowed him to work with some of the most talented kids for their age all in one spot.” Skinner continued, “He brings a passion for coaching and player development that will fit in with our skills focused development model. His professionalism and leadership qualities will enhance development opportunities for our athletes on a day-to-day basis and we’re very lucky to have him back working with the Force.”
Mullin commented on returning to Fargo as a member of the coaching staff, “My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Fargo Force family. Coming back to a place where I once called home and getting to share this experience with my wife and daughter is a truly special feeling.” He added, “Professionally, working alongside Brett Skinner, Matt Cullen, Cary Eades, Jon Kram, Dorian Nelson and the rest of the staff is an honor, and I can’t wait to help grow their winning culture and continue developing high talent to make Fargo proud. I am beyond excited for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get to Fargo next week for Tryout Camp.”
Mullin joins Skinner, Jackson Keane, and Jimmy Spratt on the coaching staff for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
