Joe Ryan to play in World Baseball Classic

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Minnesota Twins All-Star is joining Team USA. Starting pitcher Joe Ryan announced on Wednesday that he will play for the United States in the 2026 World Baseball Classic this Spring.

The 29-year-old went 13-10 with a 3.42 ERA in 171 innings last year. This will be his first time playing in the World Baseball Classic.

The roster is currently being assembled with 13 players confirming participation for the Americans. They include Corbin Carroll (OF, Arizona Diamondbacks), Pete Crow-Armstrong (OF, Chicago Cubs), Gunnar Henderson (SS, Baltimore Orioles), Clay Holmes (RHP, Milwaukee Brewers), Aaron Judge (OF, New York Yankees), Nolan McLean (RHP, New York Mets), Cal Raleigh (C, Seattle Mariners), Joe Ryan (RHP, Minnesota Twins), Kyle Schwarber (DH, Philadelphia Phillies), Paul Skenes (RHP, Pittsburgh Pirates), Will Smith (C, Los Angeles Dodgers), Brice Turang (2B, Milwaukee Brewers), and Bobby Witt Jr. (SS, Kansas City Royals). Manager Mark DeRosa and General Manager Michael Hill will complete the roster in the coming weeks. Additionally, Judge will serve as the team Captain.

Team USA will begin World Baseball Classic play in Pool B on March 6 at 7 p.m. against Brazil in Houston.
