MSUM selected sixth in preseason NSIC poll, Strand picked to repeat as OPOY

The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons football team is projected to finish fifth in the 2024 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason poll. The poll is selected by the conferences 13 head coaches. MSUM is coming off of a 2023 season in which the program finished with a 7-4 record and quarterback Jack Strand was named the Offensive Player of the Year, MSUM’s first OPOY honoree since Dustin Long in 2007.

Additionally, Dragon Junior quarterback Jack Strand has been selected to repeat as the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year. Strand, a 2023 All-NSIC First Teamer, he set single-season program records in passing yards (3,914), pass completions (370), pass attempts (550), and passing touchdowns (36). In 2023 Strand became the first Dragon to surpass 5,000 career passing yards, while setting the NSIC single-season completions record (370). In 20 career games, Strand has thrown for 6,194 yards and 52 touchdowns.

The Dragons will open the 2024 season in Moorhead on Thursday, September 5 against Wayne State with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
