NDSU MBB defeats UND, Wins first Summit League tournament since 2020

Top-seeded North Dakota State took down No. 3 seeded North Dakota 70-62 in the Summit League tournament men’s basketball championship game on Sunday night.

This is the sixth time the Bison have won the conference tournament and first time since 2020. NDSU improved to 27-7 on the season, while setting a new program record for wins. Additionally, the Bison swept both the regular season and conference tournament championships.

Damari Wheeler-Thomas led the Bison with 19 points, eclipsing 1,000 career points scored. Taylor Smith added 13 points while Andy Stefonowicz chipped in 11 points and six rebounds. Treyson Anderson and March Strickland scored seven points apiece. Trevian Carson tallied four points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.

NDSU earned a bid into the Division I Men’s Basketball National Tournament for the sixth time in program history, joining 2009, 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2020.
