(St. Paul, MN) — Kirill Kaprizov is playing hard-to-get.
Hockey insider Frank Seravalli is reporting that the Minnesota Wild superstar turned down an eight-year contract extension worth $128-million dollars earlier this week. The deal would have made Kaprizov the highest-paid player in NHL history based on both average annual value and total contract value.
The 28-year-old scored 25 goals and netted 31 assists in 41 games last season.
The last time Minnesota made it out of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoff was in 2015. The Wild have made the playoffs in eight of the past 10 seasons, failing to advance out of the first round each time.
