Turnovers cost Concordia WBB in Elite 8 loss to Scranton

On Saturday, March 14 the Concordia College women’s basketball team played in the NCAA D3 Tournament’s Elite 8 for the first time since 1993. The Cobbers played against Scranton in Scranton, Pa. Concordia fell 67-42 in the contest.

Concordia shot 13-38 (34%) while Scranton connected on 27-57 (47%) shots from the field. The Cobbers committed 20 turnovers while the Lady Royals only turned the ball over five times. Concordia was 2-11 (18%) from three-point range and 14-16 (88%) from the free throw line.

The Cobbers were paced by Maya Metcalf’s 17 points, six rebounds, and two blocks. Alexa Snesrud added eight points, six rebounds, and two assists. Kaia Gack chipped in six points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Scranton had four players in double figures led by Kaci Kranson’s 15 points and five rebounds. Katie Gorski added 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Meghan Lamanna tallied 11 points followed by Kaeli Romanowski’s 10 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Scranton (30-0) will now play reigning national champion New York University (29-0) in the National Semifinals on Thursday, March 19 in Salem, Virginia.

The Cobbers finished the 2025-26 season with a 26-5 record.
