Twins drop series rubber match to Nationals

The Minnesota Twins dropped their series rubber match 7-2 to the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon.

Cole Sands gave up one run over two innings of work. Danny Coulombe gave up a run in one inning of relief. Travis Adams gave up five runs over 3 ⅓ innings, eventually being tagged with the loss. Brock Stewart recorded two outs with Louie Varland and Jhoan Duran each tossing a scoreless inning.

Matt Wallner hit a solo home run while Trevor Larnach drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

The Twins will now welcome the Boston Red Sox to Target Field for a series beginning on Monday night at 6:40 p.m. Simeon Woods-Richardson will be on the bump for Minnesota with Richard Fitts scheduled to counter for Boston.
