Twins give up four home runs in series opening loss to Dodgers

The Minnesota Twins fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 in their series opener on Monday evening.

David Festa gave up four runs over 5 ⅓ innings, eventually being tagged with the loss. Louie Varland recorded a pair of outs while Cole Sands gave up one run over two innings of work.

Byron Buxton hit a leadoff home run, his 23rd of the season. Additionally, it was Buxton’s sixth leadoff home run of the season and 15th of his career. Kody Clemens drove in Minnesota’s other run.

The Twins and Dodgers will continue their series on Tuesday evening with first pitch scheduled for 9:10 p.m. Simeon Woods-Richardson will be on the bump for Minnesota with Yoshinobu Yamamoto countering for LA.
