Twins ninth inning rally falls short in loss to Royals

The Minnesota Twins ninth innings comeback bid fell short in their 6-5 series finale loss to the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon. Minnesota scored four runs in the ninth inning.

Connor Prielipp struck out seven batters over 4 1/3 innings while giving up two runs, eventually being tagged with the loss. Andrew Morris gave up three runs over 1 2/3 innings of relief. Cody Laweryson surrendered one run over two innings out of the bullpen. Justin Lawrence tossed a scoreless inning.

Josh Bell paced the Twins’ offense with a three-run homer, his sixth of the season. Ryan Kreidler and Victor Caratini added an RBI apiece.

Minnesota fell to a record of 30-37 on the season.

The Twins now have an off day on Monday before traveling to Detroit for a three game mid-week series against the division rival Tigers. Tuesday night’s first pitch is scheduled for 5:40 p.m. with full game coverage available on Twins.TV. Taj Bradley will be on the mound for Minnesota while Troy Melton counters for Detroit.
