On Monday, September 29 the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club announced via a team release that the franchise is parting ways with Manager Rocco Baldelli. It comes less than 24 hours after the final pitch of Minnesota’s 2025 campaign came to an end.
The decision comes shortly after the team’s disappointing 70-92 record in 2025. Minnesota finished with the fourth worst record in baseball only finishing ahead of the Washington Nationals (66-96), Chicago White Sox (60-102), and Colorado Rockies (43-119). The disappointing season comes only two calendar years after the Twins ended their over two decade long playoff losing streak.
Baldelli spent seven seasons as the team’s manager racking up the third most wins by any single manager in franchise history. He finished his tenure in Minnesota with a record of 527-505 (.511). He only trails Tom Kelly’s 1,140-1,244 and Ron Gardenhire’s 1,068-1,039 records leading the team.
“Over the past seven years Rocco has been much more than our manager. He has been a trusted partner and teammate to me in leading this organization,” said President of Baseball and Business Operations Derek Falvey. He added, “This is a difficult day because of what Rocco represents to so many people here. He led with honesty, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our players and start. He gave himselt tully to this role and I have tremendous respect and gratitude for the way he carried himself and the way he showed up every single day.”
