Twins ride hot bats in series opening win over Angels

The Minnesota Twins rolled the Los Angeles Angels 12-3 on Monday night.

Simeon Woods Richardson had a quality start, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three runs en route to eventually earning the win. Travis Adams tossed 1 ⅔ scoreless innings with four strikeouts out of the bullpen. Michael Tonkin added 1 ⅓ shutout innings with Genesis Cabrera recording the game’s final three outs.

Royce Lewis hit two home runs while driving in a team-high four runs. Matt Wallner and Luke Keaschall chipped in two RBI apiece. James Outman hit a solo home run, while Trevor Larnach also tallied an RBI.

The Twins and Angels will continue their series on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 8:38 p.m. Zebby Matthews is scheduled to be on the mound for Minnesota with Kyle Hendricks countering for LA.
