A combined five hit shut out by the Tigers pitching staff gave Detroit the series rubber match Thursday evening.
The Tigers were led by six home runs enroute to a convincing 11-0 victory. Keider Montero picked up the victory going 6 1/3 innings and just four hits. Zebby Matthews took loss after surrendering nine hits and giving up seven earned runs.
Minnesota fell to 31-39 on the season.
The Twins will host the St. Louis Cardinals in a weekend series starting on Friday evening with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and full game coverage available on Twins.TV. Joe Ryan will be on the mound for Minnesota while Kyle Leahy is scheduled to start for St. Louis .
