Twins take series rubber match from Padres

The Minnesota Twins took down the San Diego Padres 7-2 in their series rubber match on Sunday afternoon.

Joe Ryan struck out eight batters over seven shutout innings, earning the win. Michael Tonkin gave up two runs over the final two innings.

Byron Buxton hit his career-high 29th home run while also driving in two runs. Royce Lewis also had two RBI. Luke Keaschall, Ryan Jeffers, and James Outman all added an RBI.

The Twins will now welcome the Chicago White Sox to Target Field for a four-game series. First pitch of Monday’s series opener is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Bailey Ober is scheduled to be on the bump for Minnesota.
