Twins trade 11 players in fire sale at deadline

5 p.m. Central Time couldn’t come fast enough for Minnesota Twins fans on Thursday, July 31. Before that official deadline time the franchise sold off 11 active players… Nearly 40 percent of the franchises big league roster.

 

List of traded players and returns:

  • RHP Jhoan Duran to Phillies (received No. 56 MLB; No. 4 PHI prospect C Eduardo Tait and No. 92 MLB; No. 6 PHI prospect RHP Mick Abel)
  • OF Harrison Bader to Phillies (Receive No. 12 PHI prospect OF Hendry Mendez and RHP Geremy Villoria)
  • SP Chris Paddack and RHP Randy Dobnak to Tigers (No. 14 DET prospect C Enrique Jimenez)
  • RHP Brock Stewart to Dodgers (Receive OF James Outman)
  • Willi Castro to Cubs (Receive No. 8 CHC prospect RHP Ryan Gallagher and RHP Sam Armstrong)
  • RHP Griffin Jax to Rays (Receive RHP Taj Bradley)
  • RHP Louie Varland and 1B Ty France to Blue Jays (Receive No. 5 TOR prospect LHP Kendry Rojas and OF Alan Roden)

If you’re a Twins fan and want to look on the bright side of this fire sale, game tickets should be more affordable. The team will return to the diamond on Friday (8/1) when they visit the Cleveland Guardians with first pitch scheduled for 6:10 p.m.
