Twins trounced in loss to Angels

The Minnesota Twins gave up nine runs over a three inning span of their 12-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.

Zebby Matthews struck out five batters over 4 ⅔ innings while giving up five runs ultimately being tagged with the loss. Pierson Ohl gave up four runs over 1 ⅓ innings in relief. Thomas Hatch surrendered three runs over a single inning out of the bullpen. Infielder Ryan Fitzgerald threw a scoreless eighth inning.

Fitzgerald hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to score Minnesota’s only runs in the game.

The Twins and Angels will conclude their series on Wednesday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 3:07 p.m. Taj Bradley will be on the bump for Minnesota while Jose Soriano counters for LA.
