(Houston, TX) — Mexico has claimed its record 10th Concacaf Gold Cup title with a 2-1 victory over the United States in Houston.
Edson Alvarez scored the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute to give Mexico a lead that they would not relinquish. Raul Jimenez also found the back of the net for Mexico in the 27th minute. Mexico is now 6-2 against the U.S. in Gold Cup finals.
Chris Richards scored the lone goal for the Americans in the fourth minute. It was the earliest goal in Gold Cup final history.
