Vikings defeat Giants, McCarthy exits early with hand injury

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the New York Giants 16-13 on Sunday afternoon.

J.J. McCarthy was 9-14 passing for 108 with one interception and carried the ball twice for 20 yards and one touchdown before exiting the game with a hand injury. Max Brosmer was 7-9 passing for 52 yards in relief.

Aaron Jones ran the ball 21 times for 85 yards. Justin Jefferson caught six passes for 85 yards. Jordan Addison had two receptions for 26 yards while Josh Oliver added two receptions for 19 yards.

Will Reichard connected on all three field goal attempts of 43, 31, and 30 yards.

Blake Cashman led the defense with 16 tackles. The Vikings recorded five sacks from Jonathan Allen, Levi Drake Rodriguez, Andrew Van Ginkel, Eric Wilson, and Jalen Redmond. Byron Murphy Jr. recorded an interception in the win.

Minnesota improved to 7-8 on the season. The Vikings will now host the Detroit Lions onThursday, December 25 at 3:30 p.m. with game coverage available on Netflix.
