Over the weekend the Minnesota Vikings mixed up the quarterbacks room as the 53-man roster cutdown approaches.
The Vikings signed former North Dakota State national champion QB, Carson Wentz. Over his nine seasons in the NFL, Wentz has played in 98 games while starting in 94 of those appearances. He has an overall record of 47-46-1 combined between his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, and Kansas City Chiefs. Wentz has completed 62.7 percent of his passing for 22,410 yards. Throughout his career Wentz has 153 touchdown passes and 67 interceptions.
The Vikings are his sixth team over the past six seasons.
In order to make room for Wentz on the roster, Minnesota traded QB Sam Howell to Philadelphia. Minnesota also sent a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Eagles in the deal. The Vikings are receiving a 2025 fifth-round pick and 2027 seventh-round pick from Philly in the exchange.
The Vikings will kick off the 2025 season in Chicago on Monday, September 8 against the Bears at 7:15 p.m. with game coverage available on ESPN and ABC.
