Wolves add depth in trade deadline deal with Bulls

On Thursday, February 5 the Minnesota Timberwolves made a trade with the Chicago Bulls to add some roster depth.

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Wolves traded away guard Rob Dillingham, forward Leonard Miller, and four second round picks. In exchange the Bulls sent guard Ayo Dosunmu and forward Julian Phillips to Minnesota.

Dosunmu is a six-foot-four-inch guard that is currently averaging 15.0 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game in 45 games this season. Additionally, he is shooting  5.14 percent from the field while making 45.1 percent of his three-point attempts. He started 10 games for Chicago this season and is averaging 26.4 minutes per game.

Phillips is a six-foot-six-inch depth piece, in his third NBA season. In 35 games this season, he is averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game while playing in 9.5 minutes per contest.

Many analysts believe that the addition of Dosunmu is to bring in a presence off of the bench similar to what Nickeil Alexander-Walker did last season for Minnesota. Alexander-Walker signed a multi-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks last offseason.
