A Heat advisory has been issued from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm CT for areas of Eastern North Dakota.
During the day, heat indexes will reach upwards of 101 or greater during the afternoon and in the 90s to near 100 in the surrounding area. The high temperature will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s with light south winds switching the west late in the day. There is also a slight chance for strong to severe storms late Saturday.
"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, limit time out in the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk of heat related illnesses, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1." -National Weather Service Grand Forks ND
