Coldest air on its way with dangerous wind chills....light at the end of the tunnel....moderating next week but still below normal

Arctic air is blasting all the way down to the Gulf Coast!!  This air originated over the N. Pole and hasn't moderated a whole lot on its track south!!  In fact, the arctic plunge goes all the way to the Gulf where it will interact on Monday with an area of low pressure giving snow and ICE to areas as far south as Louisiana.  The core of the arctic air mass will settle over our area on Sunday morning with temps dropping to -20 or colder.  Here is the good news.  The core of the arctic air mass will shift SE of our area and as southerly winds kick in, we will slowly moderate next week with temps jumping into the teens which is still below normal.  We could use a little moisture as it's been a bit dry.  As the jet stream turns a bit more "zonal" we could see a few chance of snow starting late next week.  I still see a few bigger storms in March for the valley.  Are you looking for spring?  Our long range models are FINALLY looking more like spring by early April.  Let's hope so if not a bit sooner.
