Blizzard Warning! Dangerous Traveling!

A blizzard warning has been issued across the RRV. The warning and surrounding advisories go into effect this afternoon. Blizzard warning is set to expire at 9:00 AM Wednesday, and the advisory stays in effect until 6:00 PM Wednesday.

Snow begins this afternoon in the northern valley and Devils Lakes Basin, while down in the southern valley is closer to the 5-6 PM evening commute time frame. Snowfall becomes heavier tonight, with heavy snowfall at times along with winds picking up from the NW 20-30 mph, gusting up to 45 mph. This will create near-zero visibility with falling and blowing snow tonight into Wednesday morning! Patchy blowing and drifting snow is expected into the afternoon of Wednesday, with winds lightening up by evening.

Wind chills will drop to near -30 tonight as temps drop to about 5 below. Temperatures fall through Wednesday to a low between 15-20 below Wednesday night with wind chills between 20-40 below through the day and overnight (colder at night)

 

3-6" is expected around the F/M metro. Higher amounts in the northern valley are 5-9".
