Heat, Humidity and the Omaha Zoo

Heat and humidity will return to the Valley this week with a few chances for storms.   The best chance looks to be Tuesday afternoon/night (some of these are likely to be severe) and another round coming in Friday night into Saturday.   Temps will be warming into the 90s this week before cooling off into the 80s by the weekend.   We need the moisture and we are getting signs of a good 1/2" to 1" by the end of the weekend.  Let's hope for the best!!!

Now on a different note:  I know we have some GREAT zoos in our region....Chahinkapa zoo and Fargo zoo to name a few but have you ever been to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo?   It's an easy 6hr trip south on 29 to Omaha.   It's ranked the #1 zoo in the country for a reason.  They just received their 1 millionth customer of the year this past weekend.   It's an amazing zoo with so many exhibits!!  Everything from the desert dome where you go on an indoor tour of what it's like in the desert with the different species of animals and vegatation.  Then there is the Gorilla exhibit and that is amazing as well.   My personal favorite is the Lied Jungle.   You have 2 levels to walk through and it's just like you are walking THROUGH the Jungle with waterfalls, animals....it's just amazing.   There's plenty of stuff for the kids too with splash pads.  The aquarium is UNREAL too.   It's hard to put into words.   It's definitely worth the trip south on 29.
