Arctic air on the move and arrives next week

We haven’t had much snow this season, thus far.  We are about 8″ below normal and no big storms in sight.  The above normal temperature pattern we have been in since the start of the month is going to continue through mid month before the arctic opens up.  Here’s a look at temps after mid month:

It’s a “slap back to reality” from mother nature.  The question is, do we see any more snow as the colder air arrives?  Quick answer is yes, we will see a few clipper systems usher in the arctic air but snowfall totals with the clipper systems don’t look too impressive:

That’s a look at snowfall TOTALS through Jan. 22nd as the arctic air pushes in.  As you can see, not a LOT in our area.  Typically, when a healthy dump of arctic air arrives, there is usually a decent size storm to precede it but that doesn’t look to be the case this time around.  Could that change? Absolutely, but i’m not currently seeing it.
