Yesterday will go down in the record books as the largest tornado outbreak in the state for the month of September:

The NWS (National Weather Service) is still calculating the exact number of tornado’s from Sunday. The unofficial count is 19 and most of those occurred between Bismarck and Devils Lake. To put it in perspective, between 1950 and 2024 the state recorded 27 September tornadoes!! Thankfully, there were no injuries in Sunday’s outbreak.
Now we focus on the rest of the week and it will be a tale of 2 seasons with summer temps hanging on for the Valley for the start of the week and then rain and cool fall like weather for the end of the week. Our best chance of rain will come into the area at the end of the week as an area of low pressure sits and spins over the area. 1-2″ of rain between Thursday and Saturday looks like a good possibility
