Record warmth today? LRC and severe weather

It’s been a very active start to the severe weather season in the Central plains and part of that is due to the extreme in temps this spring.  One good example is today’s near record warmth in the N. Plains.   Check out the expected highs across much of our area in the mid to upper 80s!!

Another cold front will sweep through the area leading to much cooler weather spreading in from the west tomorrow and Friday:

40’s to near 80 across the state tomorrow with windy conditions.

Now let’s focus on the LRC and what has happened over the month of April.   Take a look at these severe weather reports across the US for the month of April:

It’s been a very active month, especially in the Central plains through the Great Lakes.

Looking ahead, this portion of the pattern will cycle back again in approximately 11 weeks, placing the next window near late June into the 4th of July holiday.

As we move into that fourth cycle, the severe weather risk is expected to shift farther north, which is typical as seasonal influences evolve as summer settles in.
