Winter storm heading our way.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for the area for Tuesday.  Snow will develop by Tuesday morning and increase in intensity toward noon.   Moderate to occasionally heavy snow will fall from around noon til 4pm before the snow diminishes after sunset.   WINDY conditions will develop around noon with considerable blowing and drifting snow from lunchtime through the evening commute.

Right now the morning commute looks ok with some scattered slippery travel throughout the area but conditions deteriorate by noon.  The afternoon and evening commute look very slippery with reduced visibility due to the blowing snow.  Right now, i’m thinking 3-6″ of snowfall on Tuesday with some locally higher amounts east of the Valley into lakes country where 6+ is likely to occur.

Here’s a look at a few different models predictions which is what i’m thinking as well:

Quieter weather for Wednesday/Thursday which is good news for Thanksgiving travel.  Weekend after Turkey day looks like another storm will effect areas to our south with our area being right on the northern edge of that system.   Stay tuned…..
