(Fargo, ND) -- All of Fargo's five public pools are open for business, but one has a new name.
Surrounded by family, friends and former colleagues, the Northside Pool, which is located next to North High School, is now the Roger G. Gress Northside Pool. For the man himself, he was truly lost for words.
"I came from the west side of town where we didn't have very much," said Gress, who served as Park District Executive Director for over 20 years before retiring in 2016. "For someone like myself to have the opportunity to work for the Fargo Parks District and work with the staff I did and have this public support, there really isn't words for it."
One of Gress' first projects with the parks department was building the Northside Pool, which is why it seems fitting that it's that location that will bear his name going forward.
