Fargo Public Schools Make Decision on Masks

(Fargo, ND) -- By a vote of 6-3, the Fargo Public School Board had decided to mandate masks for it's students in the 2021-2022 school year.

The move had been discussed for weeks, with a big factor being Fargo Cass Public Health following the CDC's guidance and issuing recommendations that all students, teachers and staff in schools mask up, and that in high-risk areas people wear masks indoors at events.

That was one of the key factors in the masking guidance from the board, who took a plethora of for and against arguments for the face coverings at the Tuesday evening meeting.

Fargo Public Schools did not follow the lead of West Fargo, Moorhead or even Grand Forks Public Schools, who all decided to recommend, not mandate, masks for the upcoming school year.

There is controversy already swirling within the Fargo School Board, as petitions are being circulated to recall a number of board members for their actions during the pandemic, and in other instances while in power.
