Oak Grove Lutheran School announces resignation of President Slette

(Fargo, ND)-- The Oak Grove Lutheran School Board of Regents announced today that it had accepted the resignation of President Michael Slette, to be effective with the end of the first semester on January 15, 2022.

In his resignation letter, President Slette noted “the time is right for me to step back from my role as President to focus on family and whatever else the Lord may call me to do.”  President Slette expressed his gratitude “for the incredible opportunity God laid before me in the summer of 2011 to join a most amazing group of people to extend the rich heritage of Oak Grove.”

Oak Grove Board of Regents President Sher Thomsen thanked President Slette for his ten years of leadership at the school, noting that under President Slette’s leadership, Oak Grove Lutheran School has experienced “amazing outcomes” in furthering the mission of the school, including:

•   PK-12 student growth from just over 400 to well over 700

•   Dedication of the Milan Alby Science Center in 2013

•   Expansion of the Elementary School in 2014

•   South Campus student numbers first surpassing the North Campus in 2015-16

•   Oak Grove becoming debt-free in 2019

“On behalf of the Board of Regents, I want to thank Mike for his servant leadership as the President of Oak Grove,” said Thomsen.  Thomsen added that Oak Grove is planning future events to honor President Slette’s service to the school and the Oak Grove Community.

President Slette and his wife Kim have been married 41 years and are parents to four married children and 11 grandchildren.  President Slette expressed that spending more time with family was a significant factor in his decision.  “Kim and I thank the Lord for the gift of family—both Oak Grove and our own. We hope and pray the Lord will continue to bless all with a love for Him and others as together we live out what Jesus calls us to do and be.”
