Former Alexandria Police Chief arrested

(St. Paul, MN) -- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the former police chief in Alexandria has been arrested.

Officials say Richard Wyffels was taken into custody Friday at his home. He is charged of felony theft by swindle following a year-long investigation into alleged financial crimes.

The investigation was requested by the City of Alexandria and is ongoing.
