(Fargo, ND) -- A Moorhead City Council Member appointed to her seat is hoping to be elected by voters in November.

"I've had a wonderful 18 months to really see some great positive momentum and it's that positive momentum with things moving forward that has led me to run for election and be on the ballot," said Ward 2 Council Member Heather Nesemeier.

Nesemeier says she has helped support affordable housing projects including Silver Lining Apartments for seniors who have experienced homelessness, along with Maple Cart Town homes. Nesemeier says she also supported new playground equipment. The council member also says she has a passion and track record for improving access to healthy foods.  Nesemeier was appointed to the position a year-and-a-half ago when Shelly Carlson left the seat after being elected mayor.
