(Fargo, ND) -- Crews performing snow removal on the streets of Moorhead are shorthanded to start the season.

"We're struggling for employees like everybody else. We could use three more bodies. It's a tough market to try to hire anybody," said Randy Affield, Operations Manager for the City of Moorhead.

Affield says the city currently has 15 truck operators and a total of 18 pieces of equipment operated by drivers. Despite the shortage of drivers, he says they'll be able to sufficiently manage snow removal efforts once it starts accumulating on roadways. Affield says the goal each year is to have crews and equipment ready by November 1st.

"We are putting the finishing touches on hanging the last few wings on our trucks and getting all the equipment greased up and aired up and oiled up fluid-ed up and ready to go," said Affield.
