(Fargo, ND) -- Moorhead City Council members have put off a decision on a conditional use permit for a new nightclub after some citizens voiced complaints about the business.

"I have heard from neighbors that are really concerned about a shooting happening there and violence," said Council Member Laura Croon.

Croon commented on the Classic Touch Lounge at the council meeting Monday night. A conditional use permit is being considered for the club following reports of gunfire near the business last weekend. There have also been complaints about noise and parking near the club. Club co-owner Kaluah Smith says they asked Moorhead police to have an officer come by the business at closing time but the department can't guarantee an officer will always be available.

"We (would) like to work with the police department to reduce, or keep the community safe," said Smith.

The council is expected to reconsider the conditional use permit for the nightclub at their meeting March 27th.
