(Fargo, ND) -- The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the driver who died in a highway collision involving a school bus Thursday afternoon in Nelson County.

68-year-old Barton resident Archie Gronvold died when the pickup truck he was driving collided with a school bus, which was transporting the Hatton Northwood volleyball team.

The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on Highway 32 at Nelson County Road 4.

Investigators say Gronvold's westbound vehicle was crossing Highway 32 when it was struck by the northbound school bus.

Gronvold died at the scene.

25 student athletes were riding in the bus, along with a coach and the bus driver.

None of the students sustained life-threatening injuries, but some of them remained hospitalized Friday.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
