Beet truck crash and fire leaves person with minor injuries south of Sabin

(Sabin, MN) -- A beet truck crash and fire is leaving one man with minor injuries.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened Sunday morning after 10 a.m. when a 41-year-old beet truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and struck another truck, driven by an 81-year-old Fargo man. Deputies found one of the trucks disabled on the road south of Sabin, and that the other had driven through the ditch and stopped after crashing into a tree and setting on fire. The 41-year-old received minor injuries and refused transportation to the hospital.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office was joined by the Minnesota State Patrol, Sabin Fire and Rescue, Barnesville Fire, Barnesville Ambulance, and the Red River Regional Dispatch Center.
