Fargo police officers detain "suicidal" man armed with knife

(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Police officers detained a suicidal man Tuesday afternoon, who investigators say was holding a knife to his throat.

They were called out just after 3:30, to the area of First Avenue North and University Drive.

The initial report indicated the man was "impaired".

A spokesperson for the police department says officers used "less-lethal devices to safely subdue the man". 

The man was taken to an area hospital to be treated for a neck injury. 

The injury is serious but non life-threatening. 

No one else was injured in the incident, which remains under investigation.
