Dozens gather to speak on Fargo's homelessness concerns and potential solutions

(Fargo, ND) -- Dozens of community members gathered to learn and speak about homelessness in the City of Fargo

Fargo held what they called the Community Conversation on Ending Homelessness Together at City Hall 

James Mathy, the Administrator of Housing Services Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, led a housing solutions conversation at City Hall on Wednesday. Mathy says the goal of a Housing First plan is to end put people in voluntary housing as soon as possible, with the goal of permanently ending homelessness. The method described by Mathy prioritizes helping who are housing insecure or homeless by ensuring a living space for them. This includes rent assistance, housing vouchers, master leases, and more. 

"This looks very similar to what kicked us off in Milwaukee; except there is more energy here than there was in Milwaukee, to be honest," said Mathy, who answered questions from city leaders and citizens for nearly an hour at the meeting. 

"Thank you to all who participated in this afternoon’s Community Conversation on Ending Homelessness Together event at #Fargo City Hall. Hearing different perspectives and learning from each other gives our metro area hope that we can truly make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness," said Fargo City Officials in a social media post.
