SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz and Republican and DFL legislative leaders reach a budget deal on issues like vehicle license tab fees, property tax relief and support for Hennepin County Medical Center and critical access hospitals.
The agreement includes a $1.2 billion bonding bill, $250 million in vehicle license tab relief and $125 million in property tax relief.
“This is what responsible government looks like: reduce costs for families, protect critical care, and demand accountability for how taxpayer dollars are spent,” the Republican Party of Minnesota said.
“Much of this budget deal is focused on keeping costs down for Minnesota families and local governments as they face growing financial pressures tied to federal budget cuts and costs shifts,” DFL State Senator Grant Hauschild of Hermantown said.
The legislative session is scheduled to adjourn by Monday, May 18.
