(Kenilworth, NJ) -- Drug maker Merck says it will seek authorization for the first antiviral pill for COVID.
The pharmaceutical heavyweight said Friday a clinical trial showed it cut the risk of hospitalization or death in half, when given to high-risk patients early in their infections.
It could become the first in a wave of antiviral pills which experts say could reach more people than antibody treatments that are widely used in the U.S.
