(Nashville, TN) -- A 28-year-old woman is confirmed as the deadly shooter at a Nashville middle school Monday.

Three students and three adults are dead, along with the shooter who was killed by police at The Covenant Presbyterian School.

Nashville Police say officers rushed to the school this morning and heard gunshots on the second floor and "engaged the shooter" who was armed with two assault rifles and a handgun.

The Covenant is a PreSchool-through-6th grade school. Parents could seen rushing to the school and were sent to a reunification center.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee says he's closely monitoring an active shooting event at a Nashville school. In a tweet, Lee said the state Department of Safety and Highway Patrol are working with first-responders at the scene. He also asked people to pray for the community.
