Teen accused of planning synagogue shooting reaches plea involving writing a book report

(Stark County, OH)  --  A 13-year-old boy who allegedly crafted a plan to conduct a shooting at an Ohio synagogue in September has reached a plea deal that involves writing a book report on a World War Two hero.

The teen must research and write a paper about Carl Lutz, a Swiss diplomat who organized a Jewish rescue operation during the war, according to a Stark County court administrator.

The unidentified boy allegedly made "a detailed plan" to carry out the shooting in Canton.

He was charged with two misdemeanor counts of inducing panic and disorderly conduct.

The judge ordered him to be on probation for one year and will receive counseling services and must not use the internet unsupervised.
