(Washington, DC)  --  President Biden says he expects Israel to hold off on sending troops into the southern Gaza city of Rafah while hostage negotiations are underway with Hamas.

Biden spoke to reporters at the White House on Friday, and said he's urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a temporary ceasefire in Gaza to get the hostages out. Biden said he hopes the Israelis will "not make any massive land invasion" during the talks, and added, "It is my expectation that's not going to happen."

There are still about 130 hostages being held by Hamas, and some of them are Americans.
